Finally, a low cost, patient-centric,
Clinical Information System
that’s highly customizable

Developed using Microsoft .NET and Office 2007, including SharePoint® and InfoPath®,
this Clinical Information System meets the requirements of many healthcare organizations.
Is it right for yours?

A low cost software development approach that permits extensive customization

When Insource developed a custom Clinical Information System for a world-renowned psychiatric clinic based on the 2007 Microsoft Office System we recognized that this solution would be a significant advance for many healthcare organizations. That’s because it’s a patient-centric system that doctors, nurses, and technicians will all find easy to use to enter all important data into patient treatment plans. This solution substantially improves the design and architecture of the internal patient documentation system, thereby adding substantial value via improved efficiency, reduced support and enhancement costs, and providing better internal controls for sensitive patient information.

We were able to create this forms-based Clinical Information System by using Microsoft Office SharePoint® Server 2007 and the Microsoft Office InfoPath® 2007 information-gathering program to develop the solution in less time and at a lower cost than previously possible. Its capabilities include:

  • Streamlined, consistent processes for creating and modifying patient medical information forms
  • Improved development tools with the ability to satisfy many requirements without custom programming
  • Improved data model design and data storage architecture for patient documentation
  • Flexible control of data security linked to company standards
  • Built-in support for XML/Web Services integration with external systems
  • Built-in support for versioning and auditing of changes to form templates and patient documentation
  • Built-in support for automatic archiving, retention, and disposition of patient records

A Clinical Information System designed to be customized by and for healthcare organizations

Solving Business Problems

The solution achieves substantial business benefits by:

  • Reducing user effort to create and manage patient records by eliminating redundant data entry into multiple systems
  • Improving system reliability through reduction of code complexity and support for built-in change control
  • Reducing IT support costs through elimination of legacy systems and reduced developer effort to create and maintain medical forms
  • Improving ability to quickly respond to new and changing business requirements through improved development tools and extensible system architecture
  • Providing tighter internal controls and improved compliance with HIPAA privacy rules that enables improved document management, integrated security, and auditing capabilities
  • Improving data design and architecture facilitates integration with other systems

What Forrester Says About Application Development with the Office 2007 System

Recently, Forrester wrote about the 2007 Office System stating that it will be a strong alternative to custom desktop applications. Forrester went on to say that Microsoft’s deep strengths lie in strong security, Information Workplace readiness, and product roadmap and that it also has a strong positioning in architecture.
